Grab a coffee and some chocolate and join the conversation with the Maitland Your Say team at this year’s Aroma Festival, happening this weekend in The Riverside Carpark at The Levee.

Have your say on a range of projects open for consultation at the festival, including the Hunter River Access Plan, the Maitland Urban Settlement and Local Planning Strategy and if you’re interested in Maitland’s heritage, come and share your ideas about the Open Museum concept.

Council’s Executive Manager Strategy & Performance Leah Flint says, ‘The Maitland Your Say team will be at the Aroma Festival all weekend and we’re keen to hear from the community about these exciting and diverse projects.

‘We encourage you to drop in and talk to us at the Maitland Your Say engagement marquee over the two days, find out more about these projects and share your feedback to help shape the future of our city.’

Council will be seeking feedback on how to improve access to the Hunter River at Lorn Riverbank and Queens Wharf, Morpeth. The draft plans set the future direction and framework for the strategic and operational use and management of both of these important locations. The draft Plan of Management and Masterplan for the Lorn Riverbank and Queens Wharf Morpeth will be publicly exhibited from Saturday 12 August up until 22 September 2017.

Engagement is also beginning on the future development and housing options for Maitland that will inform our Maitland Urban Settlement Strategy. The strategy is Council’s long term plan that identifies areas for investigation for potential future urban development in the Maitland local government area. Citizen feedback will help inform the review of the strategy which will take place during late 2017.

‘In addition to the plans for improving river access and the MUSS, the team will also be seeking feedback on the ways in which people may want to engage with a museum like experience in Maitland, so there is lots to talk about this weekend,’ added Ms Flint.
