Bin Creative Project
Council is working to brighten the streets and transform the built environment through creative initiatives.
Our library book return bins need a makeover, and we are looking for four artists to help bring them to life. We are seeking a bright and eye catching transformation, with an element of fun that helps to welcome people into our libraries.
Maitland City Council invites concept proposals from artists interested in taking part in redesigning one library bin from one of Maitland’s four libraries (Central Maitland, East Maitland, Rutherford and Thornton).
Individual artists, collectives, schools and community groups are eligible to apply. Applicants are invited to submit a concept to meet the technical specifications detailed below.
Your proposal should include:
- An outline of the concept and artistic vision for the work. Please include the proposed medium you will be using.
- A sketch or computer based mock-up of your proposed design. Please use the outline supplied at Attachment A to help guideyour design and dimensions.
- Images/examples of your previous work.
- Contact details for yourself, school or organisation.
The work will be made of durable, robust, high quality and low maintenance materials to ensure lifespan of the work. The work will be situated in an outdoor environment and all materials must be able to withstand environmental conditions, including wind, rain and sun.
Consideration must also be given for maintenance and cleaning.
Successful artists will be offered $500 to complete the project.
