The Maitland Conservation and Design Guidelines are aimed at assisting in the proper care and management of the City's unique built environment.

The guidelines which form the chapter Maitland Conservation and Design Guidleines of the Maitland City Wide Development Control Plan establish the procedural requirements and key issues to be considered when development is proposed in a conservation area or in relation to a heritage item.

General information and policy statements are provided with regard to conservation and design issues for residential and commercial heritage areas and buildings, in addition to requirements for development applications.
