VERSES - POETS IN RESIDENCE

Can poetry make the world a better place?

To celebrate the power of poetry, local poets are invited to team up with local cafes as part of the VERSES – POETS IN RESIDENCE initiative.

VERSES is an initiative of Maitland City Council’s Cultural Plan connecting poets with local cafes, whereby poets are connected with cafes through a pilot ‘poet in residence’ program. The poet is given space to write, as well as complimentary coffee.  In return the poet enriches the cultural life of the cafe through conversations, connections and performances.

Residencies are voluntary and do not include payment.

Launched to coincide with UNESCO’s World Poetry Day, VERSES affirms the unique ability of poetry to capture our creative spirit and common humanity.

Local poets and cafes are invited to participate in the VERSES initiative by submitting an expression of interest online by Friday 21 April 2017.
