What is Walls that Talk?

Walls that Talk is a place activation initiative to display images in an outdoor environment for the whole community to enjoy and experience. The temporary exhibition space for the  Walls That Talk program aims to-

Enhance Maitland's built environment

Create a vibrant gateway to Central Maitland

Inspire community imagination

Reinforce the unique identity of Maitland

Provide a highly visible platform for creative expression

How will Walls That Talk operate?

An annual program will be curated with the guidance of a curatorial committee that will include  The Place Activation Officer as Project Manager, the Manager of Marketing and Communications, the City Librarian and the Cultural Director of the Maitland Regional Art gallery.

An annual call for ideas for exhibitions will be made. The ideas will then  be considered and assessed according to the criteria determined by the committee, which will include meeting standards of artistic merit, originality and innovation, enhancing Council partnerships, and contributing to diversity.
