NSW Seniors Festival is the largest festival for seniors in the Southern Hemisphere.
In 2017 NSW Seniors Festival will be held from Friday 3 March to Sunday 12 March 2017. The theme is ‘Let’s do more together’ which aims to inspire people to try new things, socialise, share skills and keep doing the things they enjoy, together!
Every year during NSW Seniors Festival, government, community and commercial organisations hold hundreds of events across the state, encompassing art, sport, music, entertainment, technology, recreation, health, good nutrition and much more!
Council, in partnership with the Seniors Festival Reference Group and Living Care Home Care Services Maitland have organised a concert for local seniors. Lonnie Lee and the Leemen, a locally popular Rock ‘n’ Roll band, will be performing at Maitland Town Hall to celebrate Seniors Festival. This free event will be held from 12pm to 3pm on Thursday 9 March 2017. Tickets to this event are essential. If you would like to attend the event, please contact Maitland City Council on 4934 9700 or at SeniorsFestival@maitland.nsw.gov.au. to put your name into the ballot. You may put down no more than two names and you can only go into the ballot once. Council will be making 300 tickets available to the community for this highly anticipated event. Due to overwhelming popularity of this event, Council have extended the closing date for the ticket ballot. Names will now be collected until Friday 24 February and will be drawn at random by the Seniors Festival Reference Group on Monday 27 February.
If you aren’t able to attend Lonnie Lee and the Leemen, or you aren’t a Rock ‘n’ Roll fan, Council is developing a Program of Events which outlines other ways you can celebrate Seniors Festival. The Program of Events is available here and in hard copy at Council’s administration building (285-287 High Street Maitland 2320).
