NSW Seniors Festival is the largest festival for seniors in the Southern Hemisphere.
In 2017 NSW Seniors Festival was held from Friday 3 March to Sunday 12 March 2017. The theme in 2017 was ‘Let’s do more together’ . This aimed to inspire people to try new things, socialise, share skills and keep doing the things they enjoy, together!
Every year during NSW Seniors Festival, government, community and commercial organisations hold hundreds of events across the state, encompassing art, sport, music, entertainment, technology, recreation, health, good nutrition and much more!
In 2017 Council, in partnership with the Seniors Festival Reference Group and Living Care Home Care Services Maitland organised a concert for local seniors. Lonnie Lee and the Leemen, a locally popular Rock ‘n’ Roll band, performed at Maitland Town Hall to celebrate Seniors Festival. This free event was held from 12pm to 3pm on Thursday 9 March 2017. There were approximately 330 older people who attended this event and enjoyed music from yesteryear.
