Temporary Road Closure 'Bitter & Twisted 2016' Event - Maitland Gaol

The 'Bitter & Twisted' beer festival is to be held at Maitland Gaol on 5 and 6 November 2016.  Maitland City Council proposes the following temporary road closure in East Maitland for this event.  The closure is detailed below for public exhibition and comment:

John Street, East Maitland from roundabout on Morpeth Road to Maitland Gaol entry gates.  6.00am to 8.00pm daily Saturday 5 November and Sunday 6 November 2016.

Comments relating to the running of the event itself (not related to road closure or traffic management) should be forwarded in writing, addressed to the General Manager, Maitland City Council, PO Box 220, Maitland 2320, endorsed 'Bitter & Twisted 2016 Special Event - File 150/5'.  The closing date for comments relating to the special event is 4.00pm 11 August 2016.

Temporary Road Closures - Special Event - Freedom of Entry Ceremony & March - RAAF 2 Squadron - High Street, Maitland - Saturday 10 September 2016

Council has approved the temporarily close part of High Street, Maitland for the duration of the Freedom of Entry Ceremony and March which will commence in The Levee and finish near Maitland Town Hall on Saturday morning 10 September 2016.  Various activities are associated with the event and are scheduled to occur from 9.30am to approximately 11.00am.

A police-escorted street march involving RAAF 2 Squadron is planned to start at approximately 10.30am after a ceremony in The Levee near Bulwer Street, and then proceed eastward along High Street, Maitland to Maitland Town Hall where the marchers will disperse.  The following temporary regulation of traffic is proposed for this event:

From 8.00am to 11.30am Saturday 10 September 2016:

Temporary Road Closures:

  • High Street 'The Levee' - from Bourke Street to Elgin Street
  • Bulwer Street - from Dransfield Lane to High Street 'The Levee'
  • High Street - from Victoria Street / Hunter Street intersection to James Street 

Temporary Lane Closure:

  • Victoria Street - northbound lane from Nicholson Street to High Street
  • Lee Street - northbound lane from Nicholson Street to High Street.

Victoria Street will become one-way (southbound) from High Street to Nicholson Street during the event.  Streets will be opened for traffic as quickly as possible after the march passes by.

Warning and detour signage will be installed at various locations to guide motorists.  Maitland CBD traffic wanting to access the New England Highway will be encouraged to do so via Church Street for the duration of the event.

Temporary Road Closures - Special Events - Riverlights Multicultural Festival - Saturday 8 October 2016

Council wishes to advise that it has received an application to temporarily close the following streets in Maitland for the duration of the Riverlights Multicultural Restival:

From 5.30am Saturday 8 October to midday Sunday 9 October 2016:

  • The Levee (High Street) between Bourke Street and Elgin Street
  • Bulwer Street from High Street to just north of the Maitland Leagues Club entrance
  • Dransfield Lane.

Public comments regarding the proposed road closure should also be forwarded in writing (addressed to the General Manager at the above address), endorsed 'Riverlights Multicultural Event - File 122/944'.  The closing date for comments will be 4.00pm on Thursday 28 July 2016

Tex Perkins Concert - Maitland Gaol

The Tex Perkins Concert is to be held at Maitland Gaol on Wednesday 12 October and Thursday 13 October 2016.  Council proposed the following temporary road closure in East Maitland for this event.  The closure is detailed below for public exhibition and comment:

John Street, East Maitland from roundabout on Morpeth Road to Maitland Gaol entry gates - 11.00am to 10.30pm on Wednesday and Thursday 12 and 13 October 2016.

Temporary Road Closures - Part of High Street - 2016 New Year Eve Celebration in Maitland

Council intends to temporarily close some streets in Maitland to vehicular traffic during the New Year's Eve celebrations on the riverbank.  The closure details are:

From 6.00am Saturday 31 December 2016 to 9.00am Sunday 1 January 2017 (closure time at Police discretion):

  • St Andrews Street - between High Street and riverbank
  • Riverside Car Park
  • Stilsbury Lane.

From 3.00pm Saturday 31 December 2016 to 1.00am Sunday 1 January 2017:

  • High Street - eastbound lane from Belmore Road to just west of Church Street
  • High Street - westbound lane from just west of Church Street to Little Hunter Street (egress to Belmore Road will be maintained via Little Hunter Street).
