TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE – SPECIAL EVENT
THE POURHOUSE HOTEL OKTOBERFEST MAITLAND 2017


Council has approved the temporary closure of a section of Lee Street next to the Pourhouse Bar for the duration of the above event.  Road closure times and dates will be 5.00pm Friday 29 September 2017 to 7.00pm Sunday 1 October 2017:

  • Lee Street Maitland, from High Street southward for 40 metres (section of road adjacent to Pourhouse Hotel).      

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES – SPECIAL EVENT - FREEDOM OF ENTRY CEREMONY - CREW OF H.M.A.S. MAITLAND - HIGH STREET MAITLAND – SATURDAY 21 OCTOBER 2017

Council wishes to advise that it proposes to temporarily close part of High Street Maitland for the duration of the Freedom of Entry Ceremony and March honouring the crew of the HMAS Maitland which will commence in The Levee and finish near Maitland Town Hall on Saturday morning 21 October 2017.

A police-escorted street march involving the HMAS Maitland crew is planned to start after a ceremony in The Levee near Bulwer Street at approximately 10.30am and then proceed eastward along High Street to Maitland Town Hall where the marchers will disperse. The following temporary regulation of traffic is proposed for this event from 8am to 11.30am Saturday 21 October 2017:


Temporary Road Closures:

  • High Street -  ‘The Levee’ from Bourke St to Elgin St
  • Bulwer Street -  from Dransfield Lane to High St ‘The Levee’
  • High Street - from Victoria Street/Hunter Street intersection to James Street
  • Lee Street – only the narrow northern section just south of High Street.

Temporary Lane Closures:

  • Victoria Street – northbound lane from Nicholson Street to High Street - Victoria Street will become one-way (southbound) from High Street to Nicholson Street during the event. Streets will be opened for traffic as quickly as possible after the march passes by.

Warning and detour signage will be installed at various locations to guide motorists. Maitland CBD traffic wanting to access the New England Highway will be encouraged to do so via Church Street for the duration of the event.

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE – SPECIAL EVENT - “BITTER & TWISTED 2017” EVENT - MAITLAND GAOL


The “Bitter and Twisted” beer tasting festival is to be held at Maitland Gaol on 4 and 5 November 2017. Maitland City Council proposes the following temporary road closure in East Maitland for this event.

The closure is detailed below for public exhibition and comment:

  • John Street, East Maitland - from roundabout on Morpeth Road to Maitland Gaol entry gates from 6.00am to 8.00pm daily Saturday 4 November and Sunday 5 November 2017.

ON-ROAD ACTIVITY / EVENT AND ROAD CLOSURES VARIOUS STREETS IN MORPETH AREA PROPOSED MAITLAND TRIATHLON and SUMMER RUN SUNDAY 12 NOVEMBER 2017

Council wishes to advise residents and motorists that it has received an application from the organiser (Humphreys Events Pty Ltd) to hold the Maitland Triathlon and Summer Run, to be held on various streets in the Morpeth area. The triathlon and summer run events will commence on Sunday morning.

Temporary road closure details are f rom 5.30am to 12.30pm Sunday 12 November 2017.

Temporary Road Closure:

  • Queens Wharf Road Partial Road Closure
  • Swan Street, eastbound lane only from Tank Street to Robert Street
  • Motorists will travel on westbound lane only along this section of Swan Street.

Roads to be used by cyclists include Swan St, Edward St, Duckenfield Rd, Martins Wharf Rd, Manerys Rd, Prices Rd, Scotch Creek Rd and McFarlanes Rd. These roads will remain open to local traffic only during the various stages of the event, however motorists are advised to expect minor delays at various locations on these roads as event participants make U-turn movements at each terminating point.

Roads to be used by runners include Morpeth Rd, Brush Farm Rd and Pitnacree Rd.

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES - 2017 NEW YEARS EVE CELEBRATION IN MAITLAND

Council intends to temporarily close some streets in Maitland to vehicular traffic during the New Year’s Eve celebrations on the riverbank. The closure details are:

From 6.00am Sunday 31 December 2017 to 9.00am Monday 1 January 2018 (closure time at Police discretion):

  • St Andrews Street - between High Street and riverbank
  • Riverside Car Park
  • Stillsbury Lane

From 3.00pm Sunday 31 December 2017 to 1.00am Monday 1 January 2018:

  • High Street - eastbound lane from Belmore Road to just west of Church Street
  • High Street - westbound lane from just west of Church Street to Little Hunter Street (egress to Belmore Rd will be maintained via Little Hunter Street).

Council wishes to advise that it has received an application to temporarily close the following streets in Maitland for the duration of the Riverlights Multicultural Festival from 5.30am Saturday 10 February to midday Sunday 11 February 2018 for the following:

  • The Levee (High Street) - between Bourke Street and Elgin Street
  • Bulwer Street - from High Street to just north of the Maitland Leagues Club entrance
  • Dransfield Lane

A special event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the closure of Maitland Gaol is to be held at Maitland Gaol on Sunday 28 January 2018. Council proposes the following temporary road closure in East Maitland for this event.

The road closure is detailed below for public exhibition and comment from John Street East Maitland from roundabout on Morpeth Road to Maitland Gaol entry gates 6.00am to 5.00pm Sunday 28 January 2018.
