Road maintenance is much like cleaning the outside of your house. If you do it regularly and keep on top of it, you prolong the life of the paint and decrease the speed of deterioration. With this in mind Council conducts three types of road maintenance as part of its Capital Works Program. This includes:
- Road reseals - An Initial treatment that includes minor heavy patching works, minor shape corrections and a bitumen seal.
- Road rehabilitation - Involves adding gravel and/or additives before sealing it.
- Road reconstruction - This takes place when a road has reached the end of its useful life, and involves a complete rebuild of the road base and resealing of the road.
For information on current road works please see road closures and disruptions.
