The existing Thornton Skate Park is a modular park which was installed in the early 2000’s. The skate park has reached the end of its usable life and due to this Maitland City Council has programmed its reconstruction within their Capital Works Program. Council will utilise this opportunity to create a facility which aligns with modern skate park design and offers greatly variety and diversity in features for its users.
Funding for the Thornton Skate Park comes from the Maitland City Council's Capital Works Program.
It is anticipated for the community consultation and design process for the Thornton facility to be completed by the end of June 2023, and construction to start in September 2023 following the completion of the new Largs Skate Park.
Trinity Skateparks was awarded the contract for the design, consultation and construction of two new skate parks, one in Thornton and one in Largs.
