COVID-19 Services and Facilities Update
You may be required to check in using the QR code and Service NSW app.
You no longer need to show evidence that you are fully vaccinated to enter Council facilities.
The Maitland City Council Administration Building is open Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.30pm.
Our Customer Experience Team is also available to the community between 8.00am and 6.00pm via live chat, phone on 02 4934 9700 and email at [email protected].
Maitland Visitor Information Centre will reopen on Monday 18 October. Opening hours will return to normal, and we will be open seven days from 10.00am to 3.00pm.
As per the NSW Government Reopening NSW roadmap and Public Health Orders, valid forms of evidence of double vaccination status or a medical exemption is required for entry from anyone over the age of 16.
There is a COVID Safety Plan with COVID Safe measures in place, QR Code check in, social distancing and mask wearing required.

Update: 5 November
We are continuing our staged reopening of Maitland Aquatics Centres.
From Saturday 6 November the program pool will operate on weekends from 9.00am to 6.00pm and the splash pad will be available on weekends from 11.00am to 4.00pm.
From Monday 8 November, the following will apply:
- Aqua fitness classes will resume, with a 20 person limit per class. Aqua bike classes are limited to 10 people so we have a bike for all participants. Bookings are required for all classes.
- Recreational swimming and free play resume at the indoor pool.
Previous updates
- Learn to Swim has returned and students have retained their existing bookings, unless otherwise arranged with Maitland Aquatics Centre. We ask that learn to swim patrons attend with only one spectator where possible. Direct debits for Learn to Swim bookings have resumed. - Maitland and East Maitland Aquatic Centres have resumed regular trading hours. View locations and opening hours.
- All squad levels have returned and squad bookings need to be made online.
- Bookings are no longer essential for lap or recreational swimming.
Accessing our facility
In line with the Public Health Order roadmap, patrons over 16 attending Maitland Aquatics Centres are required to be double vaccinated and show proof of this on entry, or entry will be refused.
All patrons over the age of 12 years old (unless an exemption applies) must wear a face mask within indoor areas of Maitland Aquatics Centres unless they are in the pool.
Memberships
All memberships placed on suspension at the time of closure on Thursday 5 August, have been released from suspension. Patrons who need to maintain their suspension status can contact Maitland Aquatics on 02 4933 5073 or [email protected] to amend their membership details.
We will announce future plans as soon as possible via our website and the Maitland City Council Facebook page.
What’s coming up
From 1 December, the program pool will operate between 9.00am and 6.00pm weekdays and the splash pad will operate on weekdays during school holidays from 11.00am to 4.00pm
Maitland Gaol is reopening at normal opening hours for self guided and guided tours from Monday 18 October.
As per the NSW Government Reopening NSW roadmap and Public Health Orders, valid forms of evidence of double vaccination status or a medical exemption is required for entry from anyone over the age of 16.
The purchase price will not be refunded for a ticket bought online for those over the age of 16 who cannot produce valid forms of evidence of double vaccination status or a medical exemption at the time of entry.

Maitland Regional Art Gallery (MRAG) is reopening to the public from Tuesday 12 October at normal opening hours with no bookings required.
Self directed activities including Art Trails and Code Breakers will be available and public programs will resume in November. Séraphine Café will reopen on 1 December

Summer opening hours at our branches are Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm and Saturdays 9:00am to 1:00pm (Rutherford and Thornton) and 9:00am to 2:00pm (Maitland and East Maitland).

There are no changes to our residential waste services including kerbside collection.
From Friday 8 October, Mount Vincent Road Waste Management Centre is open to all Maitland residents at normal opening hours, with bookings not required.
The Centre is an essential service, and there is a COVID Safe plan with COVID Safe measures in place, QR Code check in and social distancing required.
Do not attend the site if you are feeling unwell. Attending our site if you are unwell puts our waste service at risk.
Maitland's open spaces, dog parks and play spaces are open. In accordance with the current Public Health Order, small outdoor gatherings and recreation are permitted with up to 30 fully vaccinated people.
A two person limit applies for people who are not fully vaccinated.
QR check-in codes are to be used where installed, including all skate parks and high traffic walking paths and dog parks. Fines apply for those not complying with public health orders. For more information, visit www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19
