Changes to Council services
To ensure the health and safety of the community and our staff, changes have been made to some of Council's services during the COVID-19 situation.
If you are visiting a Council facility, please ensure you practice social distancing. If you feel unwell, have returned from overseas in the past 14 days or have been in contact with a confirmed case of Coronavirus (COVID-19), please do not attend a Council site. Council can be contacted via live chat, phone on 02 4934 9700 or via email at email@example.com.
Please note that our Duty Surveyor and Duty Planner desk will resume the hours 8.30am - 12.30pm.
From Monday 1 June, Council’s Customer Service Centre and Maitland Visitor Information Centre will reopen with during pre-shutdown operating hours of 8.30am until 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am until 4.30pm Friday.
Social distancing and hygiene measures will be in place, hand sanitiser will be available on entry and the Centre will be subject to a maximum capacity dependant on the size of the facility and in accordance with the NSW Government’s social distancing guidelines. All transactions will remain cashless.
Please note the Duty Desk for Planning will also be resuming its pre-shutdown operating hours of 8.30am to 12.30pm.
There are currently no changes to our residential waste services including kerbside collection and the operation of Mount Vincent Road Waste Management Centre. In addition, all street litter bins will continue to be collected and maintained as normal.
From Wednesday 25 March, Mount Vincent Waste Management Centre will no longer accept cash payments. This will minimise hand to hand contact and is for the safety of our people and the community.
The Waste Management Centre remains open 8.15am to 4.00pm every day (closed Good Friday and Christmas Day), for commercial waste and for Maitland City Council residents only with proof of residential address required for entry.
In addition, our Community Recycling Centre (CRC) located within the facility will only now accept steel, vegetation, timber, tyres and e-waste to protect our people and the community. Further information on what is no longer accepted at the CRC can be found on Council’s website.
In line with Government restrictions which limit travel for essential reasons only, residents are encouraged to not visit the Waste Facility and stay at home and stop the spread of COVID-19.
Council will be monitoring the use of the Waste Management Centre and any further changes to opening hours or operations will be published on this page and residents should check for any changes before travelling to the Mt Vincent Road Facility.
