Mattress Muster October 2019
The Mattress Muster recycling initiative has been a big success in Maitland. As a result since October 2014 twelve mattress musters have been held and Council has received over 8,000 mattresses during this time.
Each household in the Maitland local government area can drop off up to four mattresses. Cot mattresses, innerspring mattresses, foam and latex mattresses and ensemble bases will be accepted, however a mattress with an ensemble base will count as two items.
Council’s Manager Development & Environment David Simm says, ‘By participating in this Mattress Muster you will ensure that components of your old mattresses are recycled instead of being disposed of to landfill.’
‘This is an opportunity for residents to do their bit for the environment by simply recycling something they might not use anymore, all free of charge,’ said Mr Simm.
To participate in this recycling initiative, proof of residence in the Maitland local government area will be required at the time of drop off.
