National Tree Day tree planting

National Tree Day tree planting

Come along and enjoy a morning planting native species into the Walka Water Works environment. Seedlings, planting tools and gloves will be provided for participants. Participants should wear enclosed footwear, long pants and bring along a drink of water.

The planting event will start at 9.00am with the site being a 10 minute walk along the lake pathway from the carpark. Join us to assist in rehabilitating the area to help reduce weed growth and provide more native habitat for fauna by planting 400 native seedlings.

Planet Ark estimates over 250,000 people took part at over 3,000 planting sites last year by councils, schools, environment and community groups, planting close to one million native trees, shrubs and edibles and helping to beautify their local communities.

National Tree Day is organised by Planet Ark in partnership with Toyota Australia and its Dealer Network, which provides on the ground support at tree planting sites across Australia.
