Flood Waste Assistance
Free disposal to eligible property owners will be available until Saturday 31 December 2022. If your property has been affected by flood waters, please complete the online form.
Once you have submitted this online form, your request will be reviewed by our staff to confirm your eligibility. Please allow up to three (3) business days for email confirmation of your eligibility. This email confirmation, along with proof of address, must be presented at the Mt Vincent Road Waste Management Centre.

Accepted Items include:
- Waste caused by flood damage to property
- Flood damaged materials or furniture
- Debris deposited by flood water
- Deceased animals from my flood affected property
Not accepted items include:
- Hazardous waste
- General waste from houses in Maitland that weren't damaged or flooded
- Household items/bulky waste that isn't damaged or impacted by floods
Waste will be checked at the waste facility and applicable fees apply for items not deemed flood waste.
The fee waiver for flood waste will commence on Friday 15 July and is valid through to 31 December 2022. Flood affected properties must register and allow up to 3 business days for confirmation of eligibility.
Yes, commercial properties that have been impacted by flood waters are eligible to register for free disposal of flood waste.
Yes, vacant properties that have been impacted by flood waters are eligible to register for free disposal of flood waste.
No, contractors cannot be used to transport free flood waste to the waste facility. If you are unable to transport the waste to the facility yourself, please indicate this on the registration form and we will contact you to discuss options.
Yes, charities will be allowed to bring eligible flood waste on a property owners behalf. The property owner will be required to complete the registration form. Alternatively, the charity can complete the form on the property owner’s behalf. A form will be required for each property and the charity will need to contact Council at [email protected] to advise they are delivering the flood waste on the property owner's behalf.
Yes, asbestos containing materials from buildings damaged due to flood water will be accepted as flood waste, however asbestos loads are only accepted on Wednesdays and Fridays, must be booked 24 hours in advance and must be appropriately wrapped. Please refer to the Waste Management Centre's Disposal Information.
No, only waste from flood affected properties is eligible. If your property has been impacted by stormwater, you are not eligible through this process. You may wish to contact your insurance company to determine what assistance is available to you.
The Waste Management Centre is not licenced to accept liquid waste, and as such we cannot accept sludge. Soil disposed of at the facility must be damp or dry, waterlogged soil cannot be accepted at site.
The Waste Management Centre is not licenced to accept hazardous waste, such as chemicals, and as such are not able to accept these materials in flood waste. Problem waste, such as gas bottles, paints and motor oil are free of charge for disposal but must be separated and placed in the correct receptacle at the Community Recycling Centre at the site.
