Future of Maitland Gaol
After Council being appointed as the Crown Land Manager for Maitland Gaol in 2018, it began planning for the Gaol's future.
Council has prepared the draft Maitland Gaol Development Plan and Site Master Plan to drive the future development of the site. This is to ensure its long term sustainability and reaffirm the Gaol's position as one of the most iconic and unique tourist attractions in regional New South Wales.
The draft Maitland Gaol Development Plan and Site Master Plan identifies and prioritises the strategic direction for the development and operation of Maitland Gaol as a business. Several items within the proposed plan will be subject to sourcing additional funding by way of grants and partnerships.
The draft plans have been developed, taking into consideration input from the community, which generated over 240 ideas and suggestions during the engagement period from November 2018 – February 2019.
