Library Services Review
Thank you to everyone who participated in our survey to help inform a general review of library services in Central Maitland, East Maitland, Rutherford and Thornton.
Libraries are an essential part of the social fabric, acknowledged by the Maitland community, with 89.91% of survey respondents (2018) seeing the Maitland Libraries as "absolutely essential".
Council engaged AEC consultants and the State Library of NSW to assist in developing a strategic approach to the delivery of library services in the Maitland local government area, including a review of service delivery and preparation of a strategic framework for the Libraries.
Council has now embarked on the development of a strategic roadmap for the libraries to cope with Maitland's significant growth and change. Based on the key findings and recommendations arising from the review, a series of key strategic initiatives are proposed for implementation.
To find out more, you can view the Maitland Libraries Strategy 2019-2024 under separate cover attachments from page 222 of the full document presented to Council on 23 July 2019.
