Maitland Regional Art Gallery Strategic Framework 2020-2025
One decade on from Council’s bold redevelopment of Maitland Regional Art Gallery (MRAG), Council will revisit community engagement conducted in 2009 to understand the current needs and aspirations of our community for the Gallery.
Targeting key stakeholder groups including young people, people with disability, Aboriginal people and people from cultural and linguistically diverse communities, Council wants to identify the barriers to participation, visitation and access to the Gallery and its programs and services. These barriers may be physical, experiential or attitudinal, both actual and perceived.
Feedback will be used to improve access and drive greater involvement with the Gallery, its programs and integration with the Maitland community
This consultation is an extension of MRAG’s annual visitor survey, the MRAG members survey and will support a holistic review of MRAG’s services. Phase one of the project included interviews with representatives from key stakeholder groups and organisations. In phase two, Council designed an online survey to seek feedback from those who have visited the gallery as well as those who haven't. The survey was open for seven weeks from 12 October to 30 November 2019 and received more than 600 responses.
All data collected will now be analysed and used to help inform the gallery's five year strategy.
