Make Maitland home
If you're looking for a tree change, searching for a great place to invest, or perhaps you are coming home after living away, look no further than Maitland. Whatever your reasons may be, the right reasons are here.
We understand moving to a new place can be daunting, especially if you don't know anyone. Rest assured, Maitland people are very welcoming, and you'll know your neighbours in no time.
We are a vibrant and growing city that offers a contemporary urban lifestyle, just minutes from picturesque rural landscapes. You're spoilt for choice when it comes to learning and education, with several preschools, day care facilities and schools across the city. Access to healthcare and wellbeing services are also highly important. You'll be in good hands with Maitland Hospital, Maitland Private Hospital, Lower Hunter Community Health Service, aged care facilities, baby and family health care providers and a host of other health and wellbeing specialists. The NSW Government's $470 million new Maitland Hospital project is now underway, with works having commenced at the site in late 2019. The new hospital facility will meet the growing health needs for our community and the surrounding communities, now and into the future, and is currently on track to open in early 2022.
Our resident guide and the My Maitland website are great resources in the first instance. Get to know the area and learn what residents already know, Maitland will weave its magic and make a lasting impression on you.
Getting to know the area around where you live is essential to making your move as smooth as possible. In Maitland we are blessed with some amazing countryside and the Hunter River to explore, so pop into the car or jump on your bike and discover what's around you. Find your local parks and shops, and try different routes to get home.
We are a busy little community that has something on most weekends, so check out the what's on calendar to see what's coming up or get along to one of Council's seven flagship events that are held throughout the year. It's a great way to get to know your community.
So much information is shared from the community through social media these days, so find some of the best local ones to follow.
A good place to start is a few of the Council profiles, which include Council, My Maitland, and The Levee Facebook pages plus the My Maitland Instagram page. These profiles are updated regularly with fresh content letting you know what's happening locally. Make sure you click follow to stay informed.
There are a range of sporting and social clubs located around Maitland. A quick google of what your passionate about will bring up some of the options in our city. Beyond being a great way to get to know the area, it's also a excellent way to meet new people that you have something in common with.
Making new friends as an adult is hard, or it can be. It may take some time, but if you put yourself out there, then the people of Maitland will embrace you with open arms.
