Elections
NSW Local Government Elections are conducted every four years and voting is compulsory. Maitland City Council has a popularly elected Mayor, together with 12 councillors.
A Local Government Election was held in Maitland on Saturday 9 September 2017. The Australian Election Company assisted in the management and conduct of the election for Maitland City Council.
The next Council election is scheduled to take place in 2020.
Voting is compulsory for all residents and fines may apply for not voting. So, to check you are correctly enrolled or to obtain an enrolment form visit votensw.info, phone 1300 135 736 or get a form from any Australia Post Office.
