A Maitland mystery with Tea Cooper
Prepare to be taken back to Maitland Town of 1913 to uncover the secrets behind a mysterious work of art. Tea Cooper will be appearing at Maitland Library to talk about her new novel 'The Girl in the Painting' as part of Maitland City Library’s Look Who’s Talking Local Author program on Thursday 20 February.
'The Girl in the Painting' is a historical mystery that begins with the discovery of Miss Elizabeth Quinn who is cowering in the corner of the exhibition at the Technical College. What has reduced her to a quivering mess? Jane Piper is determined to find out.
Taking in the gritty reality of the Australian goldfields, the grand institutions of Sydney, the bucolic English countryside and the country charm of Maitland Town this novel is rich in atmosphere and detail.
In a past life Tea has been a teacher, journalist and farmer. She now haunts museums and indulges her passion for storytelling. She is the author of six bestselling novels including 'The Naturalist’s Daughter' and 'The Woman in the Green Dress'.
Manager Gallery and Libraries Keryl Collard says 'Tea beautifully captures the essence of time and place and her latest novel The Girl in the Painting introduces readers to two intriguing protagonists. We look forward to hosting Tea Cooper as part of our program.'
Tea Cooper will be speaking at Maitland Library on Thursday 20 February 2020 from 6.00pm until 7.30pm. Books will be available for cash purchase at the event.
