Applications open for Maitland community groups rate subsidy
Following the adoption of a new policy by Maitland City Council, qualifying community groups that deliver benefits to the Maitland community may be eligible for a rates subsidy.
Council's Group Manager Strategy, Performance and Business Systems Leah Flint says 'we recognise the value to our residents of having a vibrant network of community organisations providing a diverse range of services, activities and facilities to the people of Maitland.
'We hope that this program has a positive impact on these organisations and allows them to focus on what is important, helping people and giving back to the community'.
For a community group to be eligible for the rate subsidy, they will need to demonstrate alignment to Council's community strategic plan, that they are financially sustainable and are the rateable owner of the land they occupy.
