Aroma festival returns to Central Maitland
I have been looking forward to this weekend for months now and I am excited that finally, it’s time for Aroma.
The Aroma Coffee and Chocolate Festival is one of my favourite events that we have here in Maitland and it’s not just because it’s celebrating two of my favourite things, coffee and chocolate. Aroma has this unique ability to pull together a very happy crowd.
While it is about celebrating coffee and chocolate, the event offers so much more. Some of the highlights this weekend will be the great music, delicious food, the range of stallholders and the demos planned for the festival’s Flavour Stage. Also, something new this year is the pottery throwing demonstrations courtesy of Katherine Mahoney, so I’m excited to check that out too.
Whilst it’s not officially part of Aroma, the Hunter Arts Network Art Bazaar is also happening in The Levee Shared Zone over the weekend and I encourage you to do some shopping while you’re out and about.

Riverlink Building Leased
Last week I had the pleasure of meeting Daniel O’Leary who, along with Anthony Ford, has taken on the lease for the Riverlink Building restaurant.
Confirming a tenant for The Riverlink Building was the final, vital piece in The Levee Development project and I’m so happy Council staff and all involved have been able to make it happen. Daniel has a great vision for the restaurant and I can’t wait until he opens the doors to COQUUN. The casual refined eatery and small bar concept will complement the culture and calibre of businesses already at The Levee and enhance the dining and night time economy options.
The restaurant is set to be opened in September so watch this space.
