Delivery Program and Operation Plan on exhibition
The Delivery Program provides a guide for Council’s response to Maitland +10 and the growth expected within the Maitland area, ensuring that over the next three years the delivery of services and infrastructure meets current and future community needs. The Operational Plan 2018/19 includes a draft budget of $144 million, presents actions to be undertaken for the year, and incorporates draft fees and charges, and rates.
Maitland Mayor Loretta Baker says, ‘This is the first delivery program for the new Council and there is a huge range of exciting projects and initiatives included. Maitland has been identified as a key contributor to the future economic growth of the Hunter Region and the Greater Newcastle metropolitan area.’
The Delivery Program and Operational Plan respond to the growth expected within the area, to ensure that over the next three years, the delivery of services and infrastructure now and into the future is meeting community needs’.
The draft plan includes an operating budget of $144 million for 2018/19, a capital works budget of $30 million focused on the delivery of key infrastructure and improvements, an asset portfolio of $979 million, and $118 million in investments. Also included is the 2018/19 proposed rating structure and draft fees and charges.
‘We have a number of exciting initiatives scheduled for the next three years including the completion of the $5.5 million Maitland Regional Athletics Centre, the construction of a multipurpose community centre at Gillieston Heights, the delivery of youth facilities through a new skate park at East Maitland, the development of a new waste transfer facility at Mount Vincent and further planning for a new Council administration building’, added Cr Baker.
The draft Delivery Program 2018-2021 incorporating Operational Plan 2018/19 will be on public exhibition until 27 May 2018.
