Expression of Interest sought for Aboriginal Reference Group
Maitland City Council is currently undertaking an expression of interest process to recruit individual and stakeholder representatives to establish an Aboriginal Reference Group.
The Aboriginal Reference Group will provide a structure, which will enable effective and sustainable communication between Council and key representatives, providing a united voice and connections to the broader Aboriginal community in Maitland.
Council’s Acting Manager Community and Recreation Emily Livens says, ‘The establishment of this group provides Aboriginal people in Maitland with the opportunity to have involvement in decision making at the local government level.
‘We are seeking local individual and stakeholder representatives who have a strong understanding of and connection with the local Aboriginal community, culture and heritage’.
One of the primary roles of the group will be to have input into planning, development and implementation of Council policies and strategies, and provide information and specialist advice in relation to areas of interest and expertise.
The EOI process has been extended and will now close on Wednesday 30 January. If you are interested in finding out more about the Aboriginal Reference Group or obtaining an application form, call Council's Community Planner on 4934 9835 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
