Maitland's greats stand tall: Five local legends join the Hall of Fame

Maitland City Council proudly celebrated the 2025 induction of five extraordinary individuals into the City of Maitland Hall of Fame at a special ceremony held at the Maitland Park Rotunda.

The new inductees were recognised for their outstanding contributions to sport, business, and community life, leaving a lasting impact on Maitland and beyond:

  • Tom Danilidis – A lifelong driving force behind Maitland basketball, inspiring generations of athletes and volunteers
  • Matt Lantry – A highly respected and transformative rugby league coach known for developing pathways and strengthening the sport locally
  • Lindsay Guy – An internationally recognised martial artist, coach, and mentor whose leadership has shaped generations in the community
  • Irene Hemsworth OAM (posthumous) – A devoted volunteer whose lifelong service uplifted countless community groups, organisations and young people
  • John Partridge (posthumous) – A much-loved retailer and community supporter who spent nearly 80 years contributing to Maitland's business, education and civic life.

Each inductee’s contributions were honoured at the Hall of Fame, where paver nameplates provide a permanent tribute to their dedication, leadership, and achievements.

Families, friends, dignitaries and community members joined Council representatives to celebrate the outstanding contributions of these remarkable individuals.

Maitland Mayor Philip Penfold said the ceremony was a chance to formally recognise the incredible achievements of each inductee.

"Their passions, commitment, and generosity have contributed to the vibrancy of our city in unique ways, shaping our community. Their stories are an inspiration to us all, and generations will remember their legacy."

The City of Maitland Hall of Fame welcomes nominations year-round and honours residents who have made a significant and enduring contribution to the social, cultural, sporting, or economic life of our city.
