The Mattress Muster will return for the year on Saturday 20 February 2021, taking place at Council’s Depot carpark in Metford from 8.30am until 3.00pm.
Each household in the Maitland area can drop off up to four mattresses free of charge. Cot mattresses, innerspring mattresses, foam and latex mattresses and ensemble bases will all be accepted, however a mattress with an ensemble base will count as two items.
With Mattress Muster proving to be one of the more popular waste events of the year, and the COVID-19 pandemic forcing the cancellation of one of 2020’s events, the decision was made to bring this year’s first Mattress Muster forward to earlier in the year. A second event for 2021 is planned to take place in November.
Residents participating in this event will ensure that components of old mattresses are recycled instead of being disposed of to landfill. This is an opportunity for the community to do their bit for the environment by simply recycling something they might not use anymore, all free of charge.
To participate in this recycling initiative, proof of residence in the Maitland local government area will be required at the time of drop off.
