New spaces to play at Metford and Thornton

Council secured $65,000, toward the $130,859 cost for the Willow Drive play space under the Everyone Can Play program, which includes new play equipment for all ages and abilities, and new pathways from the road to the play space with new centralised, accessible picnic seating.

Council designed the play space following extensive feedback from residents to provide an attractive and enticing space that complements the community art projects along the fences of the play space undertaken by residents in 2019 and early 2020.

Thornton's new play space at Parkview Terrace is also close to completion. The space is perfect for children under 12, including toddlers with multi-play climbing and slide structures as well as swing and logs for balancing.

There are structures to create a feeling of windows and tunnels that the kids can use as 'shops' or 'houses' for games.

There is existing shelter and seating which make for a great spot where parents can watch their kids play whilst taking advantage of the views and even enjoy a picnic.
