Nominations Sought for City of Maitland Hall of Fame
The City of Maitland Hall of Fame celebrates outstanding achievement and contribution of individuals from all spheres of the community who have made significant and enduring contributions in a diverse range of fields and areas of endeavour.
These may include, but are not limited to arts, theatre and literature, business and public service, military service, research and education, science and innovation, and sport.
The Mayor of Maitland, Loretta Baker says, ‘Through recognition of individuals whose contributions have made a difference, the City of Maitland Hall of Fame aims to encourage pride in local achievement and inspire the highest community standards and values. I am looking forward to seeing a wide range of nominations this year.’
The online Hall of Fame includes some of Maitland’s most successful academics, politicians, artists and sports people. Inductees include champion boxer Les Darcy, well known actress Ruth Cracknell, Arnott’s biscuit entrepreneur William Arnott, as well as famous Maitland identities such as Athel D’Ombrain and Milton ‘Mr Maitland’ Morris amongst others.
Nominations may be submitted online and close at 9.00am on Monday 1 April.
