Scenes of the Crime with Barry Maitland
DS Kathy Kolla and DCI David Brock are back, but this time they are working opposite sides of the case. When newly promoted Detective Chief Inspector Kathy Kolla investigates a series of brutal murders on Hampstead Heath, she arrests the unlikely figure of Charles Pettigrew. Pettigrew's lawyer calls on recently retired David Brock for advice, and soon, unable to resist the pull of investigation, the old colleagues, Brock and Kolla, are at loggerheads.
The Brock and Kolla novels were among the first in contemporary crime fiction to feature a male and female police team as the central characters, playing complementary roles in the resolution of their cases. Other important characters in the Brock and Kolla series are the buildings and laneways of London where the books are set, and Barry will explore these locations in greater depth, giving an illustrated talk on crime scenes from the book.
City Librarian, Keryl collard say, ‘Barry Maitland’s writing evokes a rich sense of place and we look forward to learning more about those secret corners of London where the crimes happen.’
