Share a yarn on your favourite things about Maitland
Council is on the lookout for local writers interested in submitting stories for potential inclusion in the third edition of Meander, Maitland’s Lifestyle Magazine.
Meander is all about engaging local people to help provide a fresh and personalised insight into their city. Unlike traditional visitor guides, Meander uses feature articles and creative imagery to tell personal stories about experiences that can be had in Maitland.
Council’s Coordinator Visitor Economy Martin Payne says, ‘The first two editions of Meander have been very successful but now we would like to step up the level of input from local people. We all have stories to tell and we’d love to hear from local writers or aspiring writers who would like to share their insights into the city, from the obvious through to the obscure.
‘The Meander stories within the current magazine are personal accounts or stories about experiences in Maitland. We want to maintain this approach for the third edition, but with input from local residents to gain their stories about what they feel makes Maitland unique.
‘The tone of Meander is playful, fun, casual, exciting, friendly, humorous and a little quirky, so writers should be excited to share their own special yarns about the best things Maitland has to offer’.
As an incentive to get involved, each selected successful story printed will also be rewarded with a $300 Australia Post Visa Prepaid Gift Card.
The deadline for articles is Friday 16 November and they will need to be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
