Summer splash: Maitland Aquatic Centre reopens with free entry day
Maitland Aquatic Centre is diving headfirst into summer with a free family open day, to celebrate the start of the new season.
Following repair works to the outdoor pool, the centre is set to reopen on Monday 22 December, just in time for Christmas.
Locals can take a free dip in the pool between 10am and 3pm, with a live DJ on deck plus lawn games, laser tag and an Aussie classic, a free sausage sizzle, also on offer.
Maitland Mayor Philip Penfold says it’s “the perfect way to welcome people back to the outdoor pool, after an extended closure that was required for essential repair works.”
“We’ve been working hard to improve Maitland’s Olympic outdoor pool, and we’d like to thank the community for their patience while this has taken place,” Mayor Penfold said.
“Now work is complete, we can reopen the pool for summer and give the people of Maitland an early Christmas present with free entry to the pool for opening day.”
Work on the pool included repairs to the expansion joints, concrete structure and fibreglass lining, as well as tiling and repainting to extend the facility’s life for years to come and repairs to the splash pad.
