Easy to do Business In Maitland

Through our partnership with Service NSW it is now easier to do business in Maitland, with a range of support services to help you navigate regulatory requirements, freeing you up to focus on the more important things.
Easy to do Business helps you cut through red tape and open your business faster
Maitland City Council has partnered with Service NSW to simplify the process for locals to start, run and grow a business through the Easy to do Business program.
Easy to do Business is a free service offered across a range of industries, that gives you personalised help and support when starting or expanding a small business so you can focus on your business and save time and money.
All businesses who use the portal will be supported by a dedicated personal Business Concierge through the process.
The sectors currently available are:
- Cafes, restaurant and small bars
- Housing construction
- Clothing retail
- Printing services
- Road freight transport

Maitland City Council is working with Service NSW to streamline the application process for outdoor dining. We are currently trialling a single application form and a fast tracked approval process with Council waiving the admin fees during the trial period.
To apply for permission to undertake outdoor dining on a public footpath in Maitland visit the Service NSW website.
The following are considered exempt development (not requiring development consent from Council) if they comply with the requirements of State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development) 2008 (SEPP) and Standard Instrument – Local Environmental Plan.
