See - Make - Do with Maitland Regional Art Gallery's (MRAG) hands on activities, designed to get kids of all ages involved and engaged in viewing, making and creating art.

The Art Factory

The gallery's Art Factory exhibition and project spaces are dedicated to children, young adults and families. Works of art are installed in the exhibition space alongside interactive projects designed to engage and inspire our younger audiences.​​​​

Free Art Sundays

Every Sunday families are invited to drop into MRAG for free art activities inspired by the exhibitions on display. The gallery's activities are designed for kids of all ages, and as a family you can all join in and get creative. Each activity takes around half an hour to complete.

Free Art Sunday is staffed by qualified art teachers. The workshops are designed to encourage parents and children to add to their experience of the gallery by accessing hands on activities in a family friendly environment.

Every Sunday, 11am - 1pm, FREE, all materials supplied, no bookings required.

School Holiday events

Throughout each of the school holiday periods, families are welcome to join in a range of kid friendly programs and events. The cornerstone of the school holiday program is Free Art January, a month of free activities for children and families. Head to mrag.org.au for a full calendar of events.

After School art classes

Do you know some creative kids? Why not book them into an after school art class? Classes cater for 6-10 year olds and 11-16 year olds, head to mrag.org.au for dates, costs and booking details.

Fun Trails

A great way to explore the Gallery, Fun Trails are available all day, everyday at MRAG. Designed for kids 7+ (or younger with some adult assistance) grab yourself a clipboard from the Gallery reception and follow the clues to break the secret code!
