Youth week grants

National Youth Week is held in April each year and Council provides funding to groups which involve young people in planning, developing and managing activities.

Youth Week activities can be barbecues, fun days, sports activities, information and educational activities, arts workshops, performance opportunities – anything that young people would like to see happening in your local area.

Young people (anyone aged between 12 and 25) can contribute by giving suggestions for activities that you would like in any of the consultations that usually take place around October and November. You can also be involved by participating in a committee which develops guidelines for event organisers and selects the successful events. You can also help organise and run events that you would like to see happen, or just simply go to the events!

Each year organisations and groups can develop projects in conjunction with young people and apply for funding. The Maitland Youth Week Grant Program is funded by Council and the NSW Department of Family and Community Services. In 2018 groups could apply for up to $1,000 of grant funding.

Grant submissions for Maitland 2018 Youth Week Funding closed on 25 February with the below events and groups awarded funding.
