One decade on from Council’s bold redevelopment of Maitland Regional Art Gallery, Council will revisit community engagement conducted in 2009 (Regional Conversations) to understand the current needs and aspirations of our community for the Gallery.

Originally one of the most important river ports in NSW and instrumental part of the development of the entire Hunter Valley, the township of Morpeth, originally known by its Aboriginal name ‘Illalaung,’ will celebrate the bicentenary of its founding by Lieutenant Edward Charles Close, in November 2021.

My Place Grants are a Place Activation funding program announced as part of Maitland City Council's COVID-19 Response and Recovery initiatives.

Council has been seeking input into a review of Maitland +10, the local community’s long term strategic plan, which sets a vision for Maitland. Council has temporarily put the review on hold due to the deferral of the 2020 local government elections to 2021 and to assess the community impact of COVID-19 on future planning. The review will recommence later in the year.​​​​​​​​​​
