Tips for making your interview a success

These tips will assist you in preparing for your interview.

Interview Preparation
  • Research our website and familiarise yourself with our organisation
  • Think about the questions you may be asked. Remember the questions will relate to the role charter, so prepare examples
  • Prepare a list of your achievements which relate to the selection criteria such as problems you have overcome, demands you have faced, projects you have completed or where you have added value to an organisation
  • Give yourself time before the interview to review your preparation
  • Allow extra time before your interview for unexpected delays, ensuring you are not late
During the interview
  • When asked a question, take time to think about your answer. Do not feel as though you have to answer immediately
  • Ensure you answer the question using the STAR approach by describing the situation, task/action and result
  • If required, advise the panel that you need a moment to think about your response
  • If you do not understand a question, ask the panel member to repeat or rephrase
  • Please give us as much information as possible. Don’t sell yourself short
  • Remember, the interview is also an opportunity for you to get more information about the role and our organisation. Come prepared with questions
  • Bring copies of relevant documents such as licences and qualifications and present these to the panel at the end of your interview
