Viewing and applying for a role
View available positions on our Work Vacancies page. Select the position you’re interested in and read the advertisement and role charter to ensure the role matches your skills and experience. The role charter contains information about the position such as title, pay grade, area of work, core accountabilities, person profile and the selection criteria.

From the job vacancy page, click ‘Apply for this position’ and register your details through the online recruitment system. You will only need to register your details once although you will need to submit a separate application for each position you wish to be considered for. Please ensure you provide details of two current referees (please note in most cases your referees will not be contacted until the interview stage).
Through the online recruitment system, attach your current resume and cover letter (optional) and address each of the selection criteria individually. The selection criteria contains specific knowledge and experience considered necessary for you to perform the responsibilities of the position. The criteria are divided into two elements, essential and desirable. By addressing the criteria, it gives you the opportunity to demonstrate that you have the right knowledge and experience for the role. Stating you meet the criteria is not enough, you must demonstrate to us how you meet the criteria by providing relevant examples (see our Tips for addressing the selection criteria page).
Maitland City Council follows a merit based recruitment process where applicants are chosen based on their ability to perform the work which is demonstrated in the application process.
Once you have submitted your application you will receive a confirmation email advising your application has been received. Council will utilise email to keep you informed during the recruitment process so please ensure your email address is current and you check it regularly during this process.
