Maitland Mayor Philip Penfold encourages residents to register for Garage Sale Trail

Maitland gears up to spend and save during Garage Sale Trail 2025

Households across Maitland are being encouraged to open their garage doors to savvy shoppers on 8-9 and 15-16 November for the 2025 edition of Garage Sale Trail, Australia’s biggest second-hand treasure hunt.

Maitland residents can choose to cash in on their clutter by hosting their own garage sale , which is made easy thanks to free how-to guides, sale tips, and readymade promotional materials courtesy of Garage Sale Trail.

Meanwhile, shrewd bargain hunters can save a pretty penny by shopping the trail for everyday essentials or scoring a second-hand, one-of-a-kind find.

Maitland Mayor Philip Penfold said Council was “proud to partner with and participate in Garage Sale Trail once again.”

“Not only is this initiative a great way to save some money, but it also encourages people to rethink waste – we want to keep quality, useable items out of landfill by choosing to reuse.”

Mayor Penfold said last year’s event garnered more than 90 garage sales across Maitland.

“Garage Sale Trail estimates that the Maitland community saved upward of $115,000 by buying second -hand during the 2024 event,” Mayor Penfold said.

“That’s a tidy return and underlines the value that can be found tucked away in cupboards, sheds and garages across town.”
