MRAG 2030: Help guide the gallery’s future vision

Maitland Regional Art Gallery (MRAG) is inviting the community to have their say in shaping the Gallery’s future by taking part in a short online survey.

The survey is part of MRAG 2030: Your gallery, your say, a city-wide engagement project designed to inform the future direction of the Gallery’s exhibitions, programs and priorities. The plan will ensure MRAG continues to meet the needs of Maitland’s growing and diverse community.

“MRAG is proud to be a leading regional gallery, and we want to ensure it continues to grow with and represent the diverse community it serves,” says Gallery Deputy Director Courtney Novak.

“This is your chance to tell us what you value, what you’d like to see more of and how we can create a more inclusive and engaging experience for all.

“We’re especially encouraging feedback from a wide range of voices, including young people aged 12 to 25, First Nations community members, people with disability, and culturally and linguistically diverse residents. We also want to hear from those who may not have visited the Gallery before, to understand what barriers might be holding them back.”

The Gallery’s current five-year plan, developed in 2020, has already delivered several successful community-driven initiatives, including the introduction of popular youth programs such as Art Explorers and The Young Architects. As Maitland continues to evolve, MRAG is looking to the future to ensure it remains a leading destination for cultural, educational and tourism experiences.

This plan will also feed into Council’s broader Community Infrastructure Strategy (CIS), which is being developed to guide the long-term direction for community infrastructure provision including how Council plans, funds and delivers community infrastructure over the next 20 years.

The survey takes just a few minutes to complete, and all participants will go in the draw to win one of five $50 Gallery Store gift vouchers.

Have your say and help shape the future of your Gallery at mait.city/MRAG2030 from before the Monday 2 July 2025.
