Our volunteers are the jewels of Maitland
I think it’s safe to say that volunteers really do help Maitland tick. Council volunteers help with a range of services including MRAG, local libraries, Maitland Gaol and the provision of our seven flagship events. Many of these services could not happen or would not be the success that they are without volunteers.
On Monday night I was blown away by the number of enthused volunteers at the event and I was honoured to speak and present the award for Volunteer of the Year to Therese Sciberras. Therese has volunteered all over Maitland and she’s been tireless in her efforts. A deserved winner that’s for sure. Congratulations also to Peter Bogan, who won the Highly Commended Award.
I was also excited to see the diverse range of volunteers we had. It shows the future of volunteering in the city is strong.
