Recreation Works
Netball C ourts
We’re nearly done with 15 new netball courts at Maitland Park that include new asphalt, line markings, and goal posts. Work wrapped up on eight new courts back in early April, and seven more netball courts (plus a basketball half court) should be finished by the end of May.
Counting the existing courts, these works will bring the total up to 32 netball courts at
Maitland Park. Of that, 18 will be available for night training and play thanks to our recent floodlighting upgrades.
Lorn Beach
A favourite location for many Maitland locals, Lorn Riverbank will soon become much more accessible, with upgrades starting there late last month.
We’re building a sealed access road to a brand new car park on the north side of the river, accessible from Bowden Street. It’s expected that work here will be wrapped up around the end of June, meaning it’ll be more than ready for you to enjoy all summer long.
Sports in Maitland get lit
Community sport has received a boost across Maitland, with floodlighting projects from the east to the west shining a light on the City’s sportspeople.
We’ve installed new LED lights at King Edward Park in East Maitland and Tenambit No.1 Sportsground. In Telarah there will be new poles and LED lights at Coronation Oval and Hartcher Field, which we’re hoping to have wrapped up by the end of June.
