Native Seedling Giveaway
Due to the current water restrictions, seedling events and rural seedling distribution will be on hold until further notice.
Throughout the year Council runs free native seedling giveaways to encourage native plantings and increase habitat for local fauna.
Seedling giveaway events are held throughout the year and Maitland residential property owners and households are encouraged to attend. Upon proof of residence at events, you can receive up to five native tube stock species to take away and plant in your garden. Tenants are required to seek landowner approval before attending the event.
For the next plant giveaway event visit the What's on page.
Rural property owners can contact Council at any time to request native seedlings to increase the native green connectivity through the Maitland Local Government Area.
When property owners contact Council, an assessment will be made of the property in consultation with them, and an agreement and planting plan developed to determine the species applicable to revegetate the site. The initial number of seedlings suitable for your rural property.
Council will deliver seedlings to individual properties once an agreement has been reached and plants are available.
To get involved or to find out how you can become involved in greening Maitland contact Councils Environmental Strategy and Programs Team on 02 4934 9700.
