Walls that Talk is a place activation initiative that displays images on the front wall of Maitland Library for the whole community to enjoy and experience.
YOUTH WEEK COMPETITION 'RESTORE OUR EARTH' (April 2021)
For the April 2021 Walls That Talk exhibition the theme will be a combination of 'Earth Day' and 'Youth Week'. Young creatives are invited to submit visual artworks around the theme of 'Restore Our Earth' and nine artworks chosen by a panel will be part of the exhibition and receive a $50 voucher.
We will be accepting artworks by young creatives between the ages of 12-25, using a variety of mediums such as oil paints, acrylics, watercolour, ink or pastels. All artworks must be submitted by midnight 14 February 2021.
KEN DONE (November 2020 - February 2021)
Ken Done’s first solo exhibition was held in Sydney in 1980. Since then, he has held over 50 one man shows, including major exhibitions in Australia, Europe, Japan and the USA. His work has been described as the most original style to come out of Australia and his paintings are in collections throughout the world. A selection of Done’s paintings have been chosen for Maitland Library’s Walls That Talk exhibition and if you would like to explore more of his work, you can catch his latest exhibition at Maitland Regional Art Gallery (MRAG) from Saturday 21 November 2020 – Sunday 21 February 2022.
