Description
The Fraud and Corruption Prevention Policy outlines Maitland City Council’s framework for preventing, detecting and responding to fraud and corruption, ensuring the protection of public funds, assets and the integrity of Council operations.
In accordance with Council’s policy review process, the Fraud and Corruption Prevention Policy has been reviewed. The revised draft is now on public exhibition to allow for community feedback prior to finalisation.
The updated policy aligns with the Australian Standard on Fraud and Corruption Control (AS 8001:2021) and the NSW Audit Office model policy, and reinforces Council’s zero tolerance approach to fraud and corruption.
Key features of the draft policy include a strengthened fraud and corruption prevention system based on prevention, detection and response measures, enhanced governance and accountability across all levels of Council, and improved processes for reporting, investigation and risk management.
