The Draft Property Policy establishes how Maitland City Council manages, uses and governs Council-owned and controlled land and buildings.

It provides a consistent framework to ensure property decisions are transparent, financially responsible and aligned with Council’s strategic objectives.

The Policy covers key areas including leasing and licensing, acquisition and disposal of property, and the management of commercial and revenue-generating assets.

The Draft Property Policy has been developed to:

• Strengthen governance and oversight of Council’s property portfolio
• Clarify roles, responsibilities and approval pathways
• Ensure consistent, fair and transparent decision-making
• Support financial sustainability and value for money
• Align property decisions with Council’s strategic and asset management frameworks
