DA lodged for Maitland Administration Centre
This week I was really excited to be there when we lodged a Development Application for the construction of the Maitland Administration Centre adjacent to Town Hall on High Street.
Because Maitland is one of the fastest growing cities in the state, we have seen a continued growth in the demand for Council services. I see the Maitland Administration Centre as an investment in Maitland as well as staff and I am really excited to see the project come to fruition. It will be wonderful to bring all Council staff together because at the moment, staff are currently spread across a range of sites in Maitland which are now reaching, or at, capacity.
I am particularly impressed with what has been put forward by staff and the architects involved. The building will be constructed on the eastern side of Maitland Town Hall and run through to Devonshire Street. The project also includes a range of works outside of the new Centre itself. These include upgrades to, and integration with, Town Hall, the integration of the old Town Hall Café building into the development, road widening and footpath improvements in the immediate precinct and utility and service upgrades.
The new Centre will help further activate the eastern part of Central Maitland and I am excited to see the final result with completion scheduled for late 2021.If you want to find out more and watch a simulated flyover, go to maitland.nsw.gov.au/maitland-administration-centre
Multiplex Connectivity Centre
On Wednesday I visited the Westmead Children’s Hospital’s Multiplex Connectivity Centre. Over the last couple of years this centre has found work within the hospital for many of people who might otherwise have remained unemployed. You might recall Multiplex did a similar thing at Stockland Greenhills which led to great results. It was wonderful to meet everyone there and get more of an idea of the centre because the same thing will be set up when construction gets underway on the new Maitland Hospital.
