Upgrades on Stage A of the Queens Wharf Masterplan have reached completion with the wharf opening to the public last weekend.
The $1.2 million upgrades to the wharf was joint funded by Maitland City Council and Transport for NSW.
The newly constructed wharf is now significantly larger with 20m of berthing space spanning across three separate deck levels. The upgrades to the wharf will mean easier access for smaller vessels at all tide levels while still accommodating larger vessels that visit Morpeth.
The upgrades also included a formalised concrete boat trailer parking area, concrete pull over bays at the top of the boat ramp, new footpaths and landscaping.
Mayor Cr Loretta Baker says ‘the completion of this stage of the Queens Wharf Masterplan will provide increased recreation for our locals, the usability of the wharf and enhance river access to and from Morpeth.
‘We’re so excited about Morpeth as a tourism hub and the role the Queens Wharf upgrades will play.’
The remaining stages of the Queens Wharf Masterplan are subject to funding and land acquisition.
