Standing in the Hall of Fame: Maitland's search for local legends
Inspiring individuals whose achievements have stood the test of time could soon be formally recognised as part of Maitland's living history through induction into the city's Hall of Fame.
Maitland City Council is calling for nominations for the 2025 Maitland Hall of Fame, inviting community members to shine a light on local legends who have made lasting contributions in their field.
The Hall of Fame recognises individuals whose outstanding efforts have elevated Maitland's reputation locally, nationally or internationally—whether in the arts, sport, science, community service, or other areas of achievement.
"People who have gone above and beyond to make a difference, not just for a moment, but throughout a lifetime or career, have shaped Maitland," said Maitland Mayor Philip Penfold.
"The Hall of Fame is a powerful way to publicly honour those contributions and ensure their legacy for future generations."
Successful nominees will be honoured at a formal induction ceremony in November, with their names permanently engraved at the Maitland Park Rotunda, becoming part of the city's historical record and civic story.
While nominations are open year-round, submissions must be received by Sunday 28 September 2025, for 2025 induction round consideration.
Established in 2015, Maitland's Hall of Fame holds biennial inductions. Past inductees include trailblazers from a wide range of fields, including athletes who have represented Australia on the international stage, academic pioneers, and influential community and cultural leaders.
