Summer School Holiday Activities
This summer, Free Art January is all about discovering creative experiences suitable for all ages.
MRAG’s summer program is packed with artist led workshops, drop in and self directed art experiences, plus after hours activations and even a family friendly film festival.

Join LOVEDAVID and his team for a special one day collaborative filmmaking workshop just for teens.
Then, be part of red carpet stardom at the Canned Fast Film Festival on Friday 20 January and see your films alongside LOVEDAVID’S curated selection of the best in movies.
Avaiable daily, drop ins welcome.
Monster Mash is an interactive exhibition that draws on the fantastical interiors and mutant creatures created by artist Kate Rohde.
Step into Rohde’s hyper colourful world to make your own creation, drawing on techniques and processes used by Kate in her artworks.
Tuesday 3, 10, 17 and 24 January, 11.00am.
Ever wondered how Maitland Gaol’s female prisoners lived? After a one hour guided tour, learn all about the ins and outs of a prisoner’s routine and how to wash the old fashioned way.
Adult supervision is required, suits kids aged 5 to 12. Prices start at $15 for one adult and one child. Bookings essential.
Thursday 5, 12 and 19 January, 11.00am.
Do you know what happened when prisoners first arrived at Maitland Gaol? Following a brief tour, participants will buddy up and create detailed prisoner descriptions of each other, from hair and eye colour to height and age.
