Australian Death Notification Service

The Australian Death Notification Service lets you notify multiple organisations of the death of a loved one through one simple, secure online platform.  

Supported nationally by Registry’s of Births Deaths and Marriages, you can notify multiple organisations, including financial, insurance, and superannuation institutions, telecommunications and utility providers, and government services quickly and efficiently through one channel. 

Council has signed up to the Australian Death Notification Service and we are one of the first councils nationally to enable this service to support our community. It is free to use, and will help reduce the amount of time and the number of difficult conversations following the passing of someone close to you. 

How does it work? 

There are five simple steps to follow in this process: 

  1. Enter the details of the individual who has died 

  2. Details are checked to confirm the death has been recognised 

  3. Enter your details as the notifier 

  4. Choose which organisations to notify 

  5. Your selected organisations will be notified and will contact you within ten business days.
